Following the launch of our new advisory board, the next meet the team blog introduces one of its first members, Chris Meehan, who reflects on his decades of experience in cyber security so far.

Having enjoyed a commendable 24 years serving in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces, fellow Chris, Christopher Meehan, is yet another veteran who opted for a career in cyber security — much like BSS director Chris Wilkinson.

It was in 2002 that Christopher entered the technology and security industry at Cable & Wireless, a role which saw him establish his position in public sector work. Chris has since influenced a variety of sectors, both domestically and internationally, ranging from entertainment and travel, to fintech and pharmaceuticals.

Chris’ passion lies in ‘doing security’ in a way that encourages trust-building and enablement. Having taken on numerous CISO roles at large US and EU corporations, his remarkable career has led him to work at big-name companies like Booking.com, McKesson and Sky. Here, Chris determined bespoke risk management practices in response to highly distributed business risks faced by global corporations.

A trusted advisor

The nature of our advisory board is no stranger to Chris, who has excelled in advising company boards on risk reduction, as well as advising technology stakeholders on developing highly motivated teams to execute risk management strategy. A true visionary, he is an advocate for prioritising security as an integral business component, rather than a stand-alone contribution.

What’s more is that Chris’ advisory experience extends beyond company boards, to strategy development, governance, data privacy and compliance. His specialisms include technical and operational security architecture design, incident response, disaster recovery and cryptography.

As a registered IT Security Officer and Security Controller, he has held the highest level of government security clearance, positioning him as a trusted and well-respected figure in cyber security.

New opportunities

Chris’s achievements highlight his commitment to excellence, having been awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, General Service Medal (N.I.) Gulf Medal (Gulf War 1990), Liberation of Kuwait as well as the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for his service in HM Armed Forces. His exceptional approach to achieving a high standard of work has followed him into his cyber security advisory roles.

We’re looking forward to working directly with Chris to diversify and grow the solutions and services we provide to our clients. To find out more about Chris, visit his LinkedIn page.
