Welcome to our meet the team series, first up is Chris Wilkinson, our newest director.

Chris joined BSS at the beginning of 2023, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his near decade working in information security. In his role as a director, he supports our clients in managing their information security risk, through collaborative consultancy and solutions.

Prior to working in consulting, Chris worked as a Communications Engineering Officer in the RAF for seven years, including a tour in Afghanistan during Op HERRICK 17. In this role he handled everything from information assurance, tactical communications, and air defence radar systems and notes that “everyday presented a different challenge”. A notion that he likens to working in the information security, where no two days are the same.

Coming from a military past, Chris is a great example of how veterans can find the perfect career for them on “civvy street” by working in consulting. And one of his ambitions for BSS, as it continues to grow, is to hire more ex-military personnel.

While he has worked with a range of companies during his varied career, Chris has a sweet spot for those in the mid-market, understanding the unique set of challenges that these organisations face when it comes to security. He is also an expert in governance risk and compliance and is SABSA certified.

With BSS offering a wide range of services from governance, risk and compliance, security testing, information security management systems, and third-party assurance, Chris is able to support our clients –no matter their size– with any challenges that befall them; from initial gap analysis to strategy development all the way through to organising full technical delivery.

Chris remains an active member of the military and holds a commission within the Royal Corps of Signals. His current role is as a member of The Iron Division’s Yeomanry Signal Regiment, the 71st (City of London) Yeomanry Signal Regiment.

Outside work and the Army Reserve, Chris enjoys spending quality time with his wife and three children. He is happiest when listening to Test Match Special whilst pottering in the garden.
