Next up in our meet the team series is senior consultant Scott Brayshaw.

Scott joined the team in September 2023 following an impressive career trajectory in the cybersecurity industry spanning the last four years.

He came to BSS from the London Stock Exchange where he worked as a senior analyst — this combined with his experience working with the likes of Darktrace make him a perfect fit for the team, enabling him to confidently guide and advise clients on the best move for their cyber security strategy.

A graduate of Warwick university with a degree in engineering, Scott also benefits from a technical understanding of the cybersecurity platforms and solutions we work with.

In fact, following his graduation in 2017 Scott went straight into an engineering role, helping to build and develop new POS and financial systems from the ground up.

Unsurprisingly, his previous experience makes him very adept at understanding the cybersecurity needs of the banking and financial services industry, but he also has another specialty — third-party assurance.

As evidenced by the increasing number of cybersecurity attacks where access to sensitive information has been gained via third-party supply chains, third-party assurance is a huge challenge for many businesses.

Our own research shows that a quarter of CISOs (25%) report managing complex third-party supply chains as one of their top challenges. And over a quarter of respondents (27%) admitted that they are locked into long-term and/or expensive supplier contracts.

The major lesson we can learn from the research —and the rising number of attacks— is that third-party risk is prevalent across every sector and even the smallest risk can pose significant damage. The key first step to helping companies overcome these challenges is knowledge and so Scott’s experience in this area is invaluable to BSS.

But it isn’t all work work work, in his free time Scott enjoys pushing the limits with physical fitness challenges.

So far, he has completed one marathon in Paris in 2023 and is currently training for the 2024 London Marathon. As if that wasn’t enough, he is also planning to complete his first half-Ironman in July with a view to complete either a half of a full Ironman annually from now on.
